“Symbiocene”: The era in Earth history that comes after the Anthropocene. The Symbiocene will be in evidence when there is no discernible impact of human activity on the planet other than the temporary remains of their teeth and bones. Everything that humans do will be integrated within the support systems of all life and will leave no trace.
In this project, I wanted to create an ASMR experience of a petting zoo with the goal of immersing oneself in a new reality, namely the reality of the Symbiocene. This is a time when animals have taken over the Earth again. The intention is for you to experience a moment without stress; this is how I imagine the Earth will feel when animals regain dominance and humans cause little to no harm to the planet.
I selected ASMR as it can reduce stress, improve mood, and ease anxiety. These benefits align with the “Symbiocene” concept. To create this piece, I visited a petting zoo with a field recorder and gathered the sounds.
