Topopinia : A deep longing to enter a place you have never been to
Since the whole world is suffering from climate change, I thought that I would like to live in a utopia where people do not suffer from its consequences.
Inspired by triptychs in history, I wanted to create a work that looked like a window or a door that allows entry into a utopian parallel world, and thus the work was produced in the form of a triptych. The pictures in the triptych were created using AI.
In the world in the triptych, children symbolizing hope are playing in undamaged nature, and each child has a climate they can control. Children demonstrate their climate abilities when nature needs them, playing a role in perfectly harmonizing climate with nature. The world in this triptych is a place we have never been to, but it is a place we feel longing for due to climate change. My home country, Korea, is also suffering from climate change, and I created this work because I felt nostalgic for the world before climate change through paintings. / Soo Kim
